Nor Shidawati Abd Rasid

A language teacher by qualification; and youth and children empowerment advocate and social innovator by training, Shida has 24 years of work experience in the education industry. Her experience includes language teaching, end-to-end projects and programme development and management, strategy planning, environmental education and sustainability training.

Shida was with WWF-Malaysia for 16 years, where she was responsible for setting the strategic direction for the education work in WWF-Malaysia. She held a few global roles, such as a representative for Malaysia in the WWF Global Education community and the country manager for Foundation for Environmental Education, a European-based education for sustainable development programme. During her time in WWF-Malaysia, she founded the storytelling platform for children and youths, dubbed as Sembang@WWF-Malaysia, and established the Eco-Schools Programme in Thailand and the Philippines.

Before ending her career with WWF-Malaysia, she was seconded to the Ministry of Education where she led the initiative on the development of the policy discussion paper on Education for Sustainable Development. Shida is passionate about educating and empowering the younger generations and ensuring learning is fun and meaningful for the community.
